The Libyan club, Al Ahli Tripoli has become the first team from the Nile Conference to officially qualify for the BAL playoffs, which will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, in June. This comes after recording their fourth straight win with a 104-91 victory over Nairobi City Thunder (NCT) on Thursday.
Al Ahli led the first five minutes of the game against the Kenyan club with an 18-9 score. The pace continued until the end of the first quarter, led by center Deon Thompson contributing 9 points, all from the paint, ending the quarter at 32-24.
Point guard Jean Jacques Boissy came off the bench into the court in the second quarter, contributing 9 points. In addition, both Deon and the team’s captain, Mohammed Asadi, added 13 points to secure the second quarter with a 56-41 lead, sending NCT to the halftime break frustrated.

There was continuity in both the third and fourth quarters, with Coach Fouad Abou Chacra’s squad leading 83-59, closing the fourth game with a 104-91 final score. This victory adds to their third previous win against the home side club, APR.
Coach Fouad continues to admire Jean Jacques Boissy's contributions, as he was also a leading scorer against NCT with 26 points. At the post-game press conference, he reflected that after three straight wins, some other teams might take a day to relax, but they are not resting.
"First, thanks to the Al Ahli management team, plus my coaching staff. Also, Boissy is still a reliable player, so thank God for this kind of gift," He said.
