Coach Sam Vincent was named as new assistant of APR BBC ahead the BAL’s playoffs

American coach Sam Vincent, who previously coached Made by Basketball (MBB) from South Africa in the Nile Conference games held in Kigali, was named as a new assistant coach to James Maye Jr leading APR BBC at the 2025 BAL’s playoffs in Pretoria, South Africa.

The Rwanda’s representing club added coach Sam after their new player Anunwa “Nuni” Omot.

Sam is going to help the Rwandan team in South Africa, after failing to qualify with MBB for the playoffs finishing in third place in the conference with a 2-4 record. Libya’s Al Ahli SC and APR of Rwanda qualified from the conference.

The 62-year-old is bringing his extensive experience as a player, who won the NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 1986. He has also played for teams such as the Chicago Bulls and the Orlando Magic.

As a coach, he is familiar with the African continent, having coached the Nigerian Women's National Team and even led it to the 2004 Olympics. Not only that, he also won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The playoffs matchup will start on Saturday, June 6 to 14 , APR BBC will play Petro de Luanda of Angola in the seeding games before the start of the quarterfinals.
