FERWABA sets June 20 as start date for 2025 basketball playoffs

The Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) officially announced that the national basketball league playoffs will tip off on June 20, with the top-tier teams set to compete in the highly anticipated postseason games.

In the men’s category, while most teams have nearly completed their regular season fixtures—each required to play 16 games—some still have a few matches to go before the playoff picture is fully confirmed.

APR BBC, the 2024 title defender which tops the standings with 31 points after winning 15 out of 16 games, has already secured a playoff berth. Patriots BBC, currently in second place with 26 points, has also booked their spot.

Meanwhile, Rwanda Energy Group (REG), sitting in third place, and United Generation Basketball (UGB), in fourth, both have two remaining games that will determine their final playoff fate.

In the women’s category, the regular season requires each team to play 20 games. However, no team has completed all their fixtures yet. REG WBBC currently leads with 34 points, followed closely by APR WBBC, who are in second place—both teams have three games left to play.

Kepler WBBC holds third place with 29 points, while the Hoops WBBC, currently in fourth, have four games remaining. Their performance in the remaining matches will determine whether they maintain a playoff position.
