Strong Performances by APR and REG WBBC in Zanzibar Zone V Championships

APR WBBC defeated Kenya Ports Authority with a score of 96-76, while REG WBBC triumphed over Equity from Kenya, winning 86-73 in the ongoing Zone V Games in Zanzibar.The National Power Company team played its second match in Group C, having previously beaten Tanzania's Foxes Basketball 103-48, while the military team was starting its tournament.

The match between APR and KPA was highly anticipated, as the Kenyan team is considered one of the favorites in the competition.

The military team started strong, with Kamba Yoro Diakite and Shaina Pellington scoring heavily. The first quarter ended with the military team leading 26-19 against KPA.

The Kenyan team rallied in the second quarter, beginning to narrow the gap. However, both teams increased their scoring in this quarter, making for an exciting display.

The first half concluded with KPA reducing the deficit, but APR WBBC still maintained the lead at 43-40.

Pellington and Italee Lucas continued to support the military team, demonstrating their dominance in offense, while Chanel Mokango and Dusabe Jane provided solid defense.

At the end of the third quarter, the military team increased their lead, finishing that period ahead 69-57 against KPA.

APR WBBC continued to perform well, expanding their lead to 15 points (83-68), with notable performances from Diakite and Chanel.

The team further increased the gap, ultimately winning the game 96-76 against Kenya Ports Authority.

REG WBBC, representing Rwanda in this tournament, also claimed victory on Monday, defeating Equity from Kenya 86-73, after previously winning against Tanzania’s Foxes Basketball 105-48.

The games will continue on Tuesday, with REG WBBC set to face Burundi's Gladiators at 12:00 PM, followed by APR WBBC against Ethiopia's Hawassa City
