APR BBC is reportedly set to make a major roster move ahead of the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Playoffs in Pretoria, with South Sudanese star Nuni Omot expected to join the team, sources close to the club have told BallerZone Africa.
Omot is likely to replace Dane Miller Jr., who featured for the Rwandan side during the Nile Conference campaign earlier this month. The move would be a significant boost for APR as they gear up to face Petro de Luanda in the quarterfinals.
Currently playing for the Beijing Ducks in China’s CBA, Omot joined the team on October 2, 2024. The 6’9” forward is no stranger to the African basketball scene. He was named the 2023 BAL Most Valuable Player after leading Egypt’s Al Ahly to their first-ever BAL title.
Born on October 3, 1994, in Nairobi, Kenya, Omot holds dual South Sudanese and American nationality. After playing college basketball at Baylor University, he went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft but quickly built an impressive international resume.
Over the years, he has played professionally in North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, Puerto Rico, France, China, and Israel. His impact goes beyond club success—he’s also a key player for the South Sudan national team, helping the Bright Stars qualify for both the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
If confirmed, Omot’s addition could be a game-changer for APR, who are looking to make a deep playoff run in just their second BAL season. Stay tuned for official confirmation and further developments.
