Updates on the Basketball Africa League 2025 Qualification

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) tournament will take place for the fifth time, marking the first time the final games will not be held in Rwanda.After expanding the number of conferences last year, the teams seeking qualification through the 'Road to BAL' have been reduced from six to four.

The qualification games will be split into two phases, with the first scheduled for October 2024, featuring eight groups, each with six teams.

From each group, the top two teams will advance, totaling 16 teams that will compete in the 'Elite 16', the final qualifying round leading to the main conferences.

The Elite 16 games will occur between November and December 2024, divided into two groups, played in two different cities, with each group comprising eight teams.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the main conferences, joining eight others from countries that already have qualifications.

These countries include Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, South Africa, and Rwanda.

The Regular Season, well-known to many, will again be held in three conferences in Rwanda, Morocco, and Senegal.

Each conference will produce the top two teams, plus two wild cards, totaling eight teams that will compete in the final games in South Africa for the first time.

So far, the teams qualified for BAL 2025 include Petro de Luanda, the reigning champions, Egypt's Al Ittihad Alexandria, and Senegal's ASC Ville de Dakar, making their first appearance.

Also, APR BBC will represent Rwanda for the second consecutive time, along with US Monastir from Tunisia and the Nigerian league champion.
