Strong Debuts for APR and Patriots BBC

APR BBC defeated REG BBC with a score of 92-91, and Patriots BBC beat Kepler BBC with a score of 83-71 in the first games of the Qualifiers for the Basketball Championship (betPawa Playoffs 2024).

These games took place on the evening of Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Petit Stade in Remera.

The game between APR BBC and REG BBC was highly anticipated. The National Energy Company team started strong, leading with significant points, partly thanks to Antino Jackson.

The first quarter ended with the National Energy team leading the game with a score of 24 to 20 against APR BBC.

The Army team regained strength in the second quarter, with Isaiah Miller and Aliou Diarra starting to score and close the gap. The first half ended with REG BBC leading by a score of 42 to 40.

In the third quarter, the team continued to perform well, with contributions from Pitchou Manga and Cleveland Thomas, allowing them to maintain their lead and extend the gap to nine points (67-58).

In the final quarter, APR BBC made a comeback, with Miller, Diarra, and Ntore Habimana helping to reduce the deficit. The team eventually took the lead, but at the last second, Antino scored three points, tying the game at 83-83, leading to an overtime period of five minutes.

During the overtime, APR BBC showcased great determination and ended the game with a 92-91 victory over REG BBC, securing their first win.

Isaiah Miller scored the most points in the game with 32 and also had seven rebounds. Cleveland Thomas and Antino Jackson each scored 27 points.

In another game played today, Patriots BBC defeated Kepler BBC with a score of 83-71.

The second games are scheduled for Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Petit Stade in Remera. In these semi-final games, teams will compete to win three matches to reach the final.
