APR BBC and REG WBBC crowned champions at GMT 2025
APR BBC won their second straight men's title and REG WBBC took the women's trophy at the 2025 Genocide Memorial Tournament finals on April 27 at Petit Stade.

The final matchups of the 2025 Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT) saw APR BBC claim their second consecutive men's title and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) WBBC secure the women's category trophy. The games were held on Sunday, April 27, at the Petit Stade Indoor Gymnasium.
APR BBC, holder of 2024 GMT edition, defeated the United Generation Basketball (UGB) 94-92, while REG WBBC defeated JKL Lady Dolphins of Uganda 65-61 to claim the GMT trophy.
This year's tournament was attended by six men's teams and six women's teams.
REG BBC and Patriots BBC were the only teams that did not advance beyond the group stage in the men's division, while Kepler WBBC and East African University (EAUR) W BBC, both from Rwanda, were the only teams that did not advance beyond the group stage in the women's division.
In the men's final game, the army side club, APR BBC, won the first quarter 20-16. In the second quarter, UGB pulled back, scoring 18-17, to bring the score to 38-37 in favor of APR at halftime.
Resuming for the second half, APR won the third quarter again 30-29.UGB got it too late to make a comeback despite claiming the fourth quarter 29-27as it was not enough to turn the result around.
Ghanaian Amotoe James Kofi, playing for UGB, scored the most points (26) in the match, followed by Mohamed Doumbya, also playing for UGB. Chasson Randle and Nobel Boungou of APR each scored 17 points to secure the trophy .
APR had reached the final match by defeating Dar City of Tanzania in the semi-finals, while UGB eliminated KPA of Kenya.
The Tanzanian club, Dar City, defeated KPA 68-65 to secure the third spot in the men's tournament, while in the women's category, the Kenyan club, KPA WBBC, defeated APR WBBC 72-58 for third place.
