Rwanda’s 3x3 men’s national basketball team, headed by coach Moise Mutokambali, departed on Wednesday, April 30, to participate in the forthcoming FIBA 3x3 Lusail Challenger 2025, due to take place from May 2to 3.
The two-day showpiece will be held at the Lusail Sports Arena, featuring 16 teams from 10 different countries. These teams will compete in Lusail, Qatar, for a chance to win cash prizes and qualify for the Amsterdam Masters, part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
The Lusail Challenger is expected to help the Rwandan team prepare for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier 2025 on May 24 and 25 in Azerbaijan.
Participating teams will include the hosts (Azerbaijan), the best teams from each Zone Cup that have not yet qualified for the World Cup (as host, Olympic winner, Zone Cup winner, or by ranking), and the best-ranked team that has not qualified for the World Cup.
In 2024, Rwanda won a silver medal at the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2024 in Antananarivo, after a close 22-20 final loss at the hands of hosts Madagascar.
The Rwanda’s 3x3 men’s national basketball team roster includes Olivier Turatsinze, Chandelier Cyiza, Hubert Sage Kwizera, and Cadeau de Dieu Furaha.
