APR, UGB to clash in GMT men's Final; REG women meet JKL Dolphins

APR BBC and UGB have reached the final of the Genocide Memorial Tournament(GMT) in the men’s category, while REG W BBC and JKL Dolphins of Uganda are competing for the women’s title.

 APR, UGB to clash in GMT men's Final; REG women meet JKL Dolphins

APR BBC and UGB have reached the final of the Genocide Memorial Tournament(GMT) in the men’s category, while REG W BBC and JKL Dolphins of Uganda are competing for the women’s title.

The semi-finals of both categories were held on Saturday, April 26, at the Petit Stade Amahoro in Remera.

In the men’s category, UGB defeated Kenya Ports Authority of Kenya 77-55, while APR BBC defeated Dar City of Tanzania 81-68.

In the women’s category, JKL Dolphins of Uganda reached the final by defeating KPA of Kenya 74-62, while REG W BBC defeated APR W BBC 70-49.

The third-place and final matches in both categories will be played this Sunday.

The women's third-place match will be played from 6:00 PM between KPA and APR W BBC, while the men's match will be played from 8:30 PM between KPA BBC and Dar City.

The women's final will be played between JKL Lady Dolphins and REG W BBC from 5:00 PM, while APR BBC and UGB will compete for the men's title from 4:30 PM.

Tickets for all of these matches, which will be held at the Petit Stade Amahoro in Remera, are available for purchase at ticqet.rw.

This year's tournament featured six teams in the men's division and six in the women's division.

REG BBC and Patriots BBC were the only teams to not advance past the group stage in the men's division, while Kepler W BBC and EAUR WBBC, both from Rwanda, failed to advance past the group stage in the women's division.

When this tournament was last held in 2024, it featured only domestic teams.

In the women's division, APR won the trophy by defeating REG W BBC 85-81, while in the men's division, they defeated Patriots BBC 80-63.
