APR WBBC Coach Remains Hopeful Despite Losing Streak

Mushumba Charles, the coach of APR WBBC, remains optimistic despite his team losing three consecutive matches in the Women’s Basketball Championship playoffs against REG WBBC.

He attributes some challenges to new players not meeting expectations and highlights the intense rivalry between the two teams, which typically sees close scores. APR WBBC recently won the Rwanda Cup 2024 by defeating REG, raising expectations for their upcoming encounters.

Mushumba expressed concerns about the team's performance, particularly regarding injuries and player fatigue, as three players have not performed as anticipated, limiting bench contributions.

He pointed out that the added strength from new players like Bennett Tyler and Feza Ebengo has not yet translated into success on the court, allowing REG to take advantage of the situation.

Despite these setbacks, Mushumba believes in the potential for a turnaround, emphasizing that in sports, one must accept outcomes while remaining hopeful for future victories. He noted that if REG can defeat APR three times, they could also win in future matchups.

Both teams are set to represent Rwanda in the upcoming Zone V games scheduled for October 27 to November 2, 2024, in Zanzibar, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their abilities on a larger stage.
