BAL 2025 - Urunani BBC and Nairobi City Thunders Progress in Elite 16

Both teams participated in the Road to BAL tournament in Tanzania.Urunani BBC performed strongly, winning all four of their matches, including a significant victory over JKT (83-60) and a narrow win against Nairobi City Thunders (89-88).
They also defeated Beau Vallon Heat (112-43) and GNBC from Madagascar (112-56). The team bolstered its roster with notable players like Chris Crawford and Jean Jacques Boissy, along with coach Mamadou Gueye.
Urunani reached this stage for the first time since 2022, aiming to advance further, as highlighted by their captain, Ndikumana Landry.
Nairobi City Thunders, making their debut in this tournament, won three out of four matches, securing their place as the third Kenyan team in the Elite 16 after Ulinzi Warriors and Kenya Ports Authority.
The Elite 16 matches are set to start on November 12, 2024, featuring eight teams divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the main conference stage, joining eight teams from various African countries including Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, South Africa, and Rwanda.
The regular season will take place across three conferences in Rwanda, Morocco, and Senegal, culminating in a final tournament in South Africa.
