Transfer rumours: Schommer or Miller to join APR ahead the Nile conference
Ahead of the BAL Nile Conference in Kigali from May 17 to 25, APR is looking to sign a replacement player after losing Shema Osborn and Nobel Boungou-Colo to serious injuries during the Genocide Memorial Tournament final.

According to a source close to APR staff members, one option to replace these injured individuals was Justin Uwitonze, APR’s young shooting guard, who was initially set to join Rwanda’s 3x3 men’s national basketball team.
Different basketball pundits have predicted that either American small forward Dane Miller Jr. or Rwandan center/power forward Dylan Schommer Kalecyezi to join the Army side club as they aim to qualify for the BAL Finals from Friday, June 6th to 14th, hosted in South Africa at the SunBet Arena.

Without further ado, let's look at those two prospects predicted to join APR.
Dane Miller Jr.
A 35-year-old small forward who recently played for the Rochester Kingz of The Basketball League (TBL) during the 2025 TBL season.
He is not new to the BAL; Miller previously featured for the City Oilers and helped the team qualify for the playoffs from the 2023 Nile Conference by contributing significantly in scoring (25 points per game), minutes played (39.9 per game), steals (3.5 per game), and blocks (2.5 per game).
Dylan Schommer Kalecyezi
Schommer, a 6’7” forward or center born in 1997, is currently based in Switzerland, playing in the 2024/25 season withUnion Neuchatel Basket, where he averaged around 7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
He previously featured in Rwanda’s national basketball team during the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, as well as for the 2021 and 2025 AfroBasket qualifiers.
